“The launch of Projek Buku Elektronik by the Terengganu state government is a strong proof point that we are a step closer towards realizing the National IT Agenda by cultivating 21st Century learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills amongst the younger generation. At Intel, we believe that a solid foundation in education can be a springboard to a better future,” said Ryaz Patel, Intel Malaysia’s Country Manager.

Terengganu Classrooom of The Future

In December 2008, the Terengganu State Government, Top IT Industries Sdn Bhd and Intel Malaysia had signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deploy Intel-powered Classmate PCs to Year Five pupils in Terengganu schools. The first shipment of Classmate PCs arrived from Taiwan approximately three weeks ago and will now be distributed to the first batch of year-five pupils by the end of May. E-Learning: The Future Trend

The internet is the largest source of information in the whole world and whatever your needs the internet can provide. What started as a bubble has soon become a massive tidal wave and online education is one of the areas that is still increasing, probable more than ever before.

You can shop online, watch TV online, book your holidays online and even do your banking online. There are no boundaries to learning when using the internet. There are no travel costs involved with online education and no travel time whatsoever.

Some e learning programme provides interactive learning methods that indeed attract students without the burden of heavy textbooks. The paradigm shift from text books to e-books has very much to with the development of Information Technology over the past decade. The fact that computers are more affordable and the internet is more accessible, it is no longer a luxury to own one. As a matter of fact, it would soon be a necessity if you do want to live in the dinosaur age without a computer at home.
Singapore have started giving students iPads to replace the use of textbooks and desktop PCs for their studies. Nanyang Girls High School has spent S$135,000 (about $100,000) to buy 150 iPads for 140 students and 10 teachers in a pilot project. Users connect to the Internet using the tablet, and download books and course material.
Now let’s take a journey way back to 1990. Remember the time when hand phone make its first intro into the market. At that time it would be a true luxury to own one, a status symbol. It’s okay if you do not own a hand phone because it’s not a necessity and your life goes on with or without it. Moreover, most of your friends don’t have one, so it really doesn’t matter. Fast forward to 2010, how many people that you know that DOES NOT own a hand phone? You get the idea now.

Most parents had the problem with their kids spending too much time on the computer with online games and social networking websites. It would be a good idea to introduce their children with an interactive e learning programme as an alternative learning tool.

25,000 students in Terengganu are equipped with
INTEL-powered  PCs
By 2012, the Malaysian government is targeting for 100% smart schools in which all the primary and secondary school would be equipped with computer labs. And in the 9th Malaysian plan, 150 million is allocated for the development of e-learning. In fact, quite a number of schools already using computer as part of their teaching tools. E learning is going to be the trend of the future whether we like it or not (fast forward 20 years from now).

Why Your Child Fail to Score? Understand "Why" Before You "Shout" at them!

Stop Critising Your ChildDon't yell at your Child

Understand "Why" Before You "Shout" at them!

How do you help your child who is struggling academically? Before we find the solution, let’s take a look at the main reasons that probably causes your child to struggle in the first place.

Lack of Parental Involvement

parents, teacher and student are interconnected in children education

Studies have shown that children are more motivated to succeed if parents are aware of their academic development. The three way communication has to exist between parent, teachers and the student. Parents should play a more active role by asking your child what he/she has learned at school each day and your child would be more than happy to feedback to you. The goal is to be interested in what your child is learning so that he/she will see the value in learning.

Make Sure They Go To Class

Don’t Skip Class

Academic excellence begins from school. There is no secret to achieving good results or success. It is simply hard work and understanding what is being taught in the classroom. So make sure that your child has a high attendance rate and don’t skip class unnecessarily.

Poor Study Skills

No Idea How To Study
<<  Why will this happen?
Often students have no idea how to study. Many students do only Input Learning – reading, studying, memorizing & listening are only Input Learning – that is why students get average marks. The key to accomplish good grades is Output Learning™ – the ability to retrieve and apply what you have studied or learnt. The key to here is applying what your child has learned at school. This could be achieved by encouraging your child to do short regular exercise and provides instant Output Learning to access your child’s level of understanding of a particular topic taught in school.

Lack of Motivation

Depressed and Discourage Child! Support Them with Magic Words

Motivation is important to help your child achieve success and confidence in studies. Reinforce the important of studies to your child and be persistent. You need to use affirmative sentences in order to let your child understand the importance of education. Don’t shout or yell or even criticize your child. It will only de-motivate him/her from study. Praise him/her when they do well and encourage them to try harder to excel. Remember that you too will have to sacrifice a lot when your child is studying. Unless you yourself don’t portray a good sign of sincerity, your child would not understand its importance.

Unique Features of Score A

eTopic™
A revision module that allows students do short regular exercises and provides instant Output Learning to assess a student’s level of understanding of a particular topic taught in school. Students can select a particular topic taught in class that day and instantly find out if they have understood what they have learnt and review their understanding of that topic. Parents will be able to monitor their children’s academic progress and help them identify their children’s strength and weaknesses so that timely measures can be taken to correct any shortcomings.
With eTopic, answers are corrected instantly to allow the student to learn from the wrong answers. Each question allows the student four attempts to find the right answer. Each attempt that is incorrect will have 1/3 point deducted, and when the wrong answer is selected, the student will be informed instantly, thus “forcing” the student to re-read the question before his or her 2nd, 3rd or 4th attempts. This instills the habit of reading the question carefully and understanding it before attempting an answer.
eAssessment™
Carefully designed to allow your children do exercises as often as they want and provides instant Output Learning to assess your children’s understanding of a particular subject taught in school. Your children can select a subject at any one time and instantly find out if they have understood what they have learnt and review their understanding of that subject. As parents, you will then be able to identify your child’s strength and weaknesses so that timely measures can be taken to correct any shortcomings before the actual examinations.

Parents would be updated on the number of attempts their children has done on each topic, thus specifically highlighting the “difficult topics” faced by their children. This information will help parents identify specific topics in a subject that their children have difficulties in, instead of generalising and categorising weaknesses by subjects.
eNotes
